How much does
your condo pay for water?

See the raw numbers

The sample above is typical for the projects we do. Sometimes we're able to save even more. The case study above is a condo complex with 215 units using an average of about 190 gallons per unit per day at cost of about $15/Kgal. After repairing leaks and installing water efficient fixtures they were able to cut 40% off their water bill. They never had to pay anything up front and the owners got to enjoy the savings on their association fees.

Drop the Drip™ can analyze your water consumption, finance repairs by a licensed and bonded contractor, and only recover money from the actual savings. This means the service is basically free to the condo association. Drop the Drip™ has indexed the consumption of thousands of units, so we know what a good benchmark for optimized consumption is. Because we front the costs there's no risk to the association.

Can Drop the Drip™ save my condo money?

Yes, but the only way to know how much money Drop the Drip™ can save your condo is by letting us analyze your bills. We won't undertake a project that we're not sure of, meaning that if we can save you money, we can usually save you a lot of money.

In condominiums the water bills are paid in common, so individual condo owners have no incentive to fix leaks or install efficient improvements. Your board doesn't want to make the unpopular choice of imposing special assessments to front the cost of improvements. Drop the Drip™ defeats this problem by installing the fixtures up front and only recovers money from the savings. This means your association bills go down without any painful fees or upfront costs. There's no risk for you because we assume all the risk and there's no reason to continue on wasting water and money.

Get a FREE water bill analysis.

Our free water bill analysis is free of cost and free of obligation. Just send us your bill with a little information and we'll check to see how much we think you can save. We analyze both your consumption and the billing structure to calculate your marginal cost. Sometimes the marginal rate for water is too cheap for the improvements to make financial sense. Sometimes the consumption is too close to optimized for the difference to be worth the cost. Once you have the analysis then feel free to make improvements yourself, or Drop the Drip™ can make and finance the improvements for you.

Why Drop the Drip™?

Drop the Drip™ specializes in analyzing condominium and multifamily water consumption. Then we finance the improvements from the water savings themselves. You don't have to be stuck overpaying for water anymore.

There are some other companies offering similar services to Drop the Drip™, but after the recovery phase they typically enter some shared savings phase in which they continue to charge for your savings even after their fixed cost is recovered. Drop the Drip™ gives you a set price and once it's met, your condo enjoys 100% of the savings.

How much does it cost?

It's kind of free because the improvements get paid from the savings. The actual cost of the improvements themselves get calculated based on the specific recommendations for your condo. The time to recover the investment also gets estimated when the inspection is completed so you'll know how soon you can enjoy the savings. We consistently underprice what individual unit owners would pay a plumber to make the repairs or improvements because of the scale we operate on.

The Process

Step 1: Preliminary analysis

Share your water bills with us and we will analyze them free of charge. If your consumption is high, we'll let you know how high and how much you can save. If your water usage is already optimized then we'll let you know that too.

Step 2: Inspection and detailed analysis

If a preliminary assessment indicates there are water savings to be had, we'll arrange a plan specific to your property, starting with an inspection and indexing of the water meters and fixtures. As we find the problem areas we create a list of recommended improvements, cost, and ROI per improvement and define your baseline consumption

Step 3: Proposal and agreement

Once we've identified the problems we draft a proposal of which improvements should be fixed, an estimate of how much water could be saved by each item, and recommendations regarding what should be fixed/replaced, and what could be left as is. The work-up includes prices for the improvements and an estimate how long it will take for the fixture or repair to pay for itself.

You decide which improvements or repairs you want made and when we all agree we sign the final contract.

Step 4: Installation

A team under the direction of a licensed and insured contractor goes to each of the fixtures previously indexed and applies the repair or installs the replacement according to the agreement.

Step 5: Monthly monitoring

Drop the Drip™ monitors your water consumption each month, looking for leaks and measuring each month's consumption against the baseline. Your actual bill is compared against a calculated baseline bill and you are only charged the difference. This goes on until the fixtures are paid off at which point you realize 100% of the savings from those improvements. Your analysis will have an estimate of when that should occur, but depending on the cost of water where you are, we've seen improvements paid off in as little as 6 months.

Don't mess around. Let's get started

Getting started is just as simple as sending us your water bill with a little information. There's no cost or obligation and the potential savings can be huge.
